The 2nd Korean Speech Contest in Malaysia

I woke up at 6.50 am this morning. I couldn’t sleep well. I dressed up in my best position, applying a minor makeup on my cheek.
-
My mother, my college friend and I went together to the Korean Embassy. We registered and took some brochure about Korea. I entered into the hall, with a light feeling, knowing that my participation was purely participation. I seated at the chair stated No 30 and I hade made to know some participants throughout the process.
-
It was a break before Advance Level’s participant began their speech. It was a “long” break. I was very nervous. Participants before me were all great and fluent. I know my standard. I hope to do my best without thinking of the nervous.
-
I stepped up when the Miss MC called my name. Let’s start. Calm.
-
My title is , My Favourite Actor, Kim Jeong Hoon.
-
*******
My turn is over. Fuh… finally. The strange thing was the participant beside me congratulated me. I performed very well? Really? Happy to hear that... Thanks….
-
It was the turn to announce the winner. It was categorized into 1st, 2nd, 3rd Best Speaker of Beginner, Intermediate and Advance Level. My name was not mentioned. Never mind. As I mentioned before, I was just concerned about participating. When I began to pack my things, suddenly:
-
“We will now announce the Best Speaker of Today. The Best Speaker will receive a medal, a certificate, a package tour to Korea for 6 days and The winner is….. Contestant No 30, Pan Ka Min !!!”
-
Ahhh!!!! It’s I!!! I WON!!! I WON!!!! YES !!!!
-
It was totally beyond my expectation!!!
-
I stood up, approaching my mother and I went to the front hall, receiving the “ticket” and everyone took my picture. I was suddenly became the “star of the day”. The Embassy team interviewed me and there were so many congratulation words towards me by everyone. It was a very good… feeling. I was very pleased to receive the honour. Thank you to the judges for choosing me as the best speaker, thanks to the support from my mother, my brother, my godmother and everyone who have been supporting me all these while. And thanks for the hero of my script, Jeong Hoon ssi…
-
Thank you so much.

Fish - Steam Shek Pan -

I never tried Steam Shek Pan before until yesterday....
My grandmother cooked it. And I tried to have some.
Usually what I am concerned with is, whenever there is a steam fish, there is fish sauce...
I like to have fish sauce with rice.... And thus I end up becoming fan tong with fish sauce...
Don't worry, it's halal. The slices were ginger slice and mushroom slice.
It's not oily, it's just the fish's oil.

Rating for this Steam Shek Pan : 10/10 ! Yummy !

有你们在

Sharing from a TV Drama Lover

House of Joy - 有你们在

-
I am a HK Drama Lover – And still I am.
-
I am a KR Drama Lover – And still I am.
-
Nowadays I started to chase over Singaporean drama….
-
The brief introduction of Huan Le Man Wu:
-

-
I started to like this song since I watched the first episode, which was aired in Malaysia around October 2007. It is a Singaporean drama, featuring those who are debt-ridden due to overspending sing credit card to strive on to overcome their financial and social problems. Well, I personally like some songs based on the melody. This melody is pretty good, plus the lyrics contain not just love relationship between lovers but in my opinion, it contains love relationships between family members too.
-
I started to notice Ivy when she was in Family Matters. She is pretty, having a stable job as a lawyer and also, should I say romantic love? For Hanwei, I never leave a good impression on him, but starting from this drama, I started to notice his acting. Not to say very good, but considered good la. Furthermore, I get to know that he is from Johor… (Looks like Malaysians have the priority to travel to Singapore easily… wondering when my turn is.) For Edmund, I have the totally opposite view on him compared to Hanwei, he is a handsome guy… always… but he’d always ended up with affairs, even in drama Women of the Times.
-
Although my Mandarin is considered bad, but luckily I can understand Cantonese, since both Mandarin and Cantonese do have the similar pronunciations, so I’d like to share the lyrics here. It is not 100% correct, as it is based on my understanding. Some words are just hard to be translated…

The song -
-

-
The lyrics...
-

-

-

-
This is... another part of the drama that I like...
-

-
This comes with English subtitles. What I meant by I like is, "the quote"...
-
Conclusion:I would like to dedicate this song to my family. Thanks for the warmest support all these while. I hope to come out with a bright result so that we can forgo our hard time and spending a good time appreciating and respecting each other. I love you all !!

Test on Myself

You Scored an B

You got 8/10 questions correct.

Okay, so your grammar isn't perfect, but it's at least passable.
You probably know English and its rules well. You just are careless about applying them.
Proofread your writing a little more carefully. Your mistakes aren't tragic, and they're easy to fix.
Give grammar a little more effort, and you'll keep your friends from shaking their heads over your blunders.

http://www.blogthings.com/theitsitstheretheirtheyrequiz/outcome.php

You Are 63% Real

You know who you are, and you're pretty darn comfortable with yourself.
Like everyone, you struggle with the parts of yourself that aren't so great...
But you're good at accepting who you are and not dwelling on your faults.
As a result, you're confident, optimistic, and very real.

You Are 20% Emo

You're the furthest thing from emo. Sensitivity is not something you exactly cultivate... and you can't imagine weeping over song lyrics.

You Are 68% Good

You are a good person. You do the best you can to be ethical, fair, and moral.
And as you know, being a good person means making hard decisions... and following them through.
If you're confronted with an ethical dilemma, you will usually do the right thing.
Of course you do slip up. No one's perfect. But you do your best to correct your missteps.

You are also probably: incredibly honest, especially with yourself

Right now you are on track to being: A respected leader

To be a better person: Be kind to someone who is not very kind to you

You Are 63% Independent

You've cultivated your own indepedent interests and personal style.
But you're open minded enough to also embrace anything trendy that strikes you.

You're Confident...Sometimes

You can seem confident when the occasion calls for it
But inside you may be experiencing a bit of self doubt
A little more inner confidence could take you far...
And convince others that you're as confident as you try to seem

You Don't Need a Man ... or Want One!

Generally, you're very happy being a single woman.
And anyone who has a problem with that... well, that's there problem.
Not that you wouldn't share your life with the almost perfect guy.
You simply won't settle though. Your life is too good to share with some substandard man!

Your Scent is Mango

Sultry, sweet, and mellow
You enjoy every moment of life!

You Are Somewhat Like Your Mom

Believe it or not, you and your mom are pretty darn similar.
It may not seem like it at times, but you and your mom have a lot of common ground.
Over time, you'll probably get closer ... especially if you emphasize the things you like about each other.

Your Ideal Hairstyle:

Layered Bob

You Probably Look Younger Than Your Age

You live a healthy lifestyle and know how to take care of yourself.
You'll probably have a youthful glow for many years.

You Have Good Manners 79% of the Time

Your manners are quite excellent. You are well versed in etiquette.
Of course you have the occasional slip up, but you even apologize with grace.

You Are an Okay Student

You know how to get by school, but your heart isn't always in it.
Motivation is a problem for you. Maybe you need to study something more exciting!

Your Worry Factor is 63%

The amount you worry is definitely borderline unhealthy.
Even when things are going well, you find yourself fixating on the negatives.
Try to remember the times you've been able to let your worries go.
If you can do that again, you'll be much happier!

Szechuan Jia Zhang Mee

Hello all.... I am here to share about what I had for lunch today.
Actually we planned to have MacDonald, since we had the Large Free Meal coupon,
But since there were so many choices....
So we kept on choosing and choosing... and finally....
I had made my decision to have.... This.
It was Szechuan Jia Zhang Mee. (See it?)
RM 6.00 . At one of the stall at the foodcourt in a shopping mall.
Hmmm, it was quite delicious.
The mixture of Wantan Mee's mee, as you can see, mushroom, chicken etc.
And a bit spicy, but still I can take that spiciness.
The plate was very big.... And so did the mee....
This is the first time I cannot finish a meal !

Chinese, Korean, Japanese

"Chinese is the master - Japanese and Korean are the students". How true is this sentence??
-
My Chinese - I have never studied in Chinese school before, although I am a Chinese speaking Cantonese. I was illiterate in Chinese for the first 13 years of my life. After that, due to my fondness of watching HK TVB Drama, we rented the tape/cd non-stop. Nonstop!! At that time I began to have some interest in Chinese character. I wondered myself, I myself is a Chinese so I must know a bit of Chinese. I cannot be a "banana" all the time.... Malulah if continuing like that.... Now, I can manage to read some Chinese, although I am still far away from the Best standard. Usually I can read well, meaning that I am good at word reorganizations, than I can write it. I don't know, writing Chinese is a kind of taxing for me. Plus my Chinese handwriting is not that pretty either... But my roman italic writing is... good. True. Everyone said that. My pinyin is bad. Why? Because it comes in Mandarin. Yes, Cantonese and Mandarin are mostly similar but sometimes when I want to type a certain word in sms, I can't pronounce the correct pinyin and ended up... typing nothing or typing the wrong word.
-
My Korean - Korean letter sounds easier to master. But if we don't understand the particular word, we cannot understand either. It is like Bahasa Melayu. Yes, we can form the word/sentence, but it is a different case in whether we can understand it or not. I started my interest in Korean since I began to chase after Korean dramas few years back. That is what we called "Hanyu Wave". The "wave" is so strong that it drives me to learn/know more on Korean. Recently, I have cut down the time for watching Korean drama... But I am still in love with you, Hanguk !!! You have become a tiny part of my life.
-
My Japanese - I have never been interested in Japanese. But recently I have changed my thoughts towards Japanese. I mean it's ok for me to watch Japanese drama now, compared to last time that my world was only filled with HK Drama, Korean Drama and some Malay gameshow. Plus Jeong Hoon is singing Japanese songs nowadays. he is entering Japanese entertainment industry. In order to cope with him, I have started to listen to it. Not bad, so far.
-
Looks like it is true. Chinese, Korean and Japanese are "brothers". Chinese is the "big brother". I am proud to be a part of the "big brother". It would be great if I can master / "mixed" with all the 3 brothers. Then I can become a multi-linguist in Asia..... Is that going to be happen ??

I am not a Good Decision Maker

If the ranking from a bad decision maker (1) to a good decison maker (10), then I would probably standing at the point of (3). I am not a good nor prompt in making decisions. For example, I promised to go to a shopping centre with my friend tomorrow, but because of another friend's invitation for lunch, I had totally omitted my previous decision to go to the shopping centre. What am I thinking about? I have to fulfill my 1st decison before the 2nd decision prevails. What kind of people I am? Not a good decision maker. Guess I have to train myself... Making firm decisions.
-
Anyway, I can make decision regarded to food or studies. So I am bad in making life-style decisions. Can it just not to be that complicated in making decisions?? Or I am green in making decisions??

My Favourite Prince

-
Dear everyone, this is my favourite Prince of all - He is Kim Jeong Hoon !!!!
-
I began to catch an eye on him since he appeared in Goong as Prince Yul.... Now he had dyed his hair into black again but he is still the same prince that i have known him for the past one year. He is becoming more and more popular in Shanghai and Japan. He sings sweetly and smiles confidently. I am proud of him, anytime and eventually. He is the Prince that has it's own talent and ready to presume 100% in his work. Good !!!
-
But since few days ago, I was a bit upset. I don't understand why some people just like to say badly or ignore one's favourite artiste. Everyone has their own admirer. Everyone is not the same. Even if it is the same admirer, they have their different thoughts on why they like them. Am I right? Why must you say something badly on Jeong Hoon? I didn't say something badly about TVSQ too, although I am not a fan of them. This is because I understand that everyone has their own view. We shouldn't complaint on others. Why must you do this to me? Why must you ask me, "stupid... why do you like Yul? Shin is much more better !!!" Why must you say, who is Kim Jeong Hoon?? Why must you give me the expression "eeee, that guy" ?? Why can't you just say, "Oh, He looks handsome" or "Ah, he sings well" ?
-
Please don't judge Jeong Hoon as you all have seen him in GOONG. He has his own charisma and he has his own talent. You just don't know how much VALUE that he has. You all just don't know who is the true prince. Therefore, please don't say something badly to Jeong Hoon's fan. I am not that powerful to chase you up. If you accidently tell your unsatisfied view towards Jeong Hoon's fan in jhchina or dclily, you would encounter hardship. That's what I can say about.
Conclusion, we all have our own admirer. Let's try to undertsand what is the strong point or weak point of that particular admirer before making any judgement. It is more wise to start to undertsand than to throw bad views. Everyone has their own feelings.
-
Who knows that you might ending up liking him as well??

I shall "treat" s/he banana skin.
Aiyaa !!!! Hehehe stephen...

***

I remember that i had received an email about bananas...
Yes, i haven't deleted it yet.....
So i shall share with you all here.

Going Bananas
*
> >Bananas... This is very interesting.
>After Reading THIS, you'll NEVER look at a banana in the same way again
- > > Bananas. Containing three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber, a banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.
> > Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes.
> > But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet.
> > Depression: > According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana.
> This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. > > PMS: Forget the pills - eat a banana. The vitamin B6 it contains regulates blood glucose levels, which can affect your mood.
> > Anemia: > High in iron, bananas can stimulate the production of haemoglobin in the blood and so helps in cases of anemia.
> > Blood Pressure: > This unique tropical fruit is extremely high in potassium yet low in salt, making it the perfect to beat blood pressure.
> > So much so, the US Food and Drug Administration has just allowed the banana industry to make official claims for the fruit's ability to reduce the risk of blood pressure and stroke.
> > Brain Power: > 200 students at aTwickenham (Middlesex) school were helped through their exams this year by eating bananas at breakfast, break, and lunch in a bid to boost their brain power. Research has shown that the potassium-packed fruit can assist learning by making pupils more alert.
> > Constipation: > High in fiber, including bananas in the diet can help restore normal bowel action, helping to overcome the problem without resorting to laxatives.
> > Hangovers: > One of the quickest ways of curing a hangover is to make a banana milkshake, sweetened with honey. The banana calms the stomach and, with the help of the honey, builds up depleted blood sugar levels, while the milk soothes and > > re-hydrates your system.
> > Heartburn: > Bananas have a natural antacid effect in the body, so if you suffer from heartburn, try eating a banana for soothing relief.
> > Morning Sickness: > Snacking on bananas between meals helps to keep blood > sugar levels up and avoid morning sickness.
> > Mosquito bites: > Before reaching for the insect bite cream, try rubbing the affected area with the inside of a banana skin. Many people find it amazingly successful at reducing swelling and irritation.
> > Nerves: > Bananas are high in B vitamins that help calm the nervous system.
> > Overweight and at work? > Studies at the Institute of Psychology in Austria found pressure at work leads to gorging on comfort food like chocolate and crisps. Looking at 5,000 hospital patients, researchers found the most obese were more likely to be in high-pressure jobs. The report concluded that, to avoid panic-induced food cravings, we need to control our blood sugar levels by snacking on high carbohydrate foods every two hours to keep levels steady.
> > Ulcers: > The banana is used as the dietary food against intestinal disorders > because of its soft texture and smoothness. It is the only raw fruit that can be eaten without distress in over-chronicler cases. It also > neutralizes over-acidity and reduces irritation by coating the lining of the stomach.
> > Temperature control: > Many other cultures see bananas as a "cooling" fruit that can lower both the physical and emotional temperature of expectant mothers. In Thailand , for example, pregnant women eat bananas to ensure their baby is born with a cool temperature.
> > Seasonal Affective Disorder > (SAD): Bananas can help SAD sufferers because they contain the natural mood enhancer tryptophan.
> > Smoking: > Bananas can also help people trying to give up smoking. > The B6, B12 they contain, as well as the potassium and magnesium found in them, help the body recover from the effects of nicotine withdrawal.
> > Stress: > Potassium is a vital mineral, which helps normalize the heartbeat, > sends oxygen to the brain and regulates your body's water balance. When we are stressed, our metabolic rate rises, thereby reducing our potassium levels. These can be rebalanced with the help of a high-potassium banana snack.
> > Strokes: > According to research in "The New England Journal of Medicine, > "eating bananas as part of a regular diet can cut the risk of death by > strokes by as much as 40%!
> > Warts: > Those keen on natural alternatives swear that if you want to kill off > a wart, take a piece of banana skin and place it on the wart, with the > yellow side out. Carefully hold the skin in place with a plaster or surgical tape!
> > So, a banana really is a natural remedy for many ills. When you compare it to an apple, it has four times the protein, twice the carbohydrate, three times the phosphorus, five times the vitamin A and iron, and twice the other vitamins and minerals. > It is also rich in potassium and is one of the best value foods around.
> > So maybe its time to change that well-known phrase so that we say,
> "A banana a day keeps the doctor away!"

Heart of greed

My personal comment
Fuh… finally I have finish watching this 40 episode hk drama downloaded from the website…well this is my first time downloading a complete tv series from the internet… that feeling… chasing after one episode by one episode but the download rate was too slow and my telephone connection bill keeps on going……….such a hard time…….
Very hard for me as I keep on tacking on the drama…when there's a part that is very funny, I laugh noisily. Cannot bear the joke. When there's part of sadness, my tears dropped. When there's a part of touching scene, I felt touched too… the ringtone that used in this drama too… very funny…. Haha… I felt quite satisfied with the ending…. What to say… happy ending for all….
The family forgives all the bad things that sai kai has done to the family. They presented the 4 pieces of abalone to her as promised by their parents. Moses and Linda finally got together (this pair doesn’t seemed like other pair, kissing, hugging… they just grab each other’s hand and run and run.. under the rain,, beside the rainbow…. Good good….)
I would like to place my personal comment on the drama….
For such a long time I haven’t seen a truly heart-consumptions hk drama since golden faith and at the threshold of an era….
• Dak Dak Dei / Sai Bau He is very funny in the drama… his character before was not so funny, but this I think he has done many thing to carry the character of tak-tak-tei…. I like his love towards seung-joi-sum, loving a person not requires living beside her, but as long as she’s happy and you’ll be happy too. He can be considered as a filial son to the family as he is the eldest, yet he’s the un-sedual son of the family.
• Gilbert holds MBA. He looks good in his glasse. He has a very bright future, but he's addicted to people's wife. After passing so many hard step he finally able to convince his family towards his relationship with Jackie and Jackie, be able to release herself from her former cold-heart husband. He's very stylish in the drama and luckily at the final he still stands with tong’s family.
• Alfred is the prince among all his colleagues as he has a bright future in legal law, sometimes he is very stubborn and he's not that good as he has another affair with another woman. But finally he knew his mistakes. Although being regret for what he did, he wrote a diary to his girlfriend, hoping that she can forgive his wrong act. he really hurt Linda badly! But you'll learn to love him later. But finally they just remain as good friend. Alfred died in a car accident. Until that he hasn't receive any forgiveness from his girlfriend but his girlfriend has already forgave him…
• Seung Joi Sum and tak-tak-tei holds an eternity friendship. As she is the only filial daughter to the family, she has to work in the morning, attending night class for law in the night, and taking care of his amnesia father. She's ok in the drama.
• As for Sui Mak Mak, not much comment for her, as she’s just appear for a short while. But, I quite don’t like her being people’s third party, moreover she’s being the 3rd party of her good friend.
• At first I quite don't like Jackie, she’s having an affair with Gilbert b4 divorce, and although she strongly said that her husband was not good to her. She smokes while pregnant, she disobey people’s advice. But after her 1st miscarriage, I think she has matured a lot. Anything she does she will think of the family 1st. the only thing I hate is her materialistic family. So hypocrites. I hate them. So crazy for money, it’s like they’re selling their daughter! Luckily the wedding went well, although there were so many problems before that.
• Ling Lei is the 2nd most understanding person in the family. She didn’t married therefore she live with tong’s family. She is wise to handle the family business but at the same time she is always being attacked” by crazy sai-kai.
• Ling Hau/Dai Kai is the 1st most understanding person in the family. She likes to give proverbs to the family, which is a good thing. She’s wise too and able to differentiate between good and bad.• Dai Bau He is also funny in the drama. People said that he is “fau kua” – not reliable I guess. Yes, little bit. He respects his 1st wife and loves his 2nd wife.
• Francis/Sai Kai. At first I see her as the veteran singer, susanna kwan. As the drama proceeds, I see her as the crazy 2nd wife, sai kai. Yes she is bad in the drama but at the end when she cried pity, I felt sorry for her. I strongly dislikes her – gan fu (lover)-. How can he accept such a –fau kua- person?
• Tong Chi Foon doesn't have much chance to expose himself until the few final episodes. Yes he’s very in a dilemma to stand between his family and his crazy mother. Pity for him.
• Because Tong Chi Yan is the youngest daughter in the family, so she got the chance to appear more in the scenes. Her Cantonese need to be more improved (like Vivian yeo's cantonese)
• Uncle Bor - not much comment for this man. No stand. Hate him.
O.k. do watch next time!!
